【A secret model answer】IELTS task1 (bar chart)|Edited by IELTS-samurai

It is a secret model answer!

I have studied in an IELTS center in a NES country from January 2019 to April 2019. During this time, I got many model answers. I will be posting edited versions of these model answers over time. The purpose so to share this information that helped me and can hopefully help others. I am also providing ways to improve these model answers.

A secret model answer (bar chart)

 Question

The graph below shows the percentage of students who agree or disagree with certain questions about their preferences for online study. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 A secret model answer

The bar chart illustrates students’ preferences with regard to online study.

The highest preference (60%) is for access online when it is necessary; only a tiny percentage, about 5%, disagree with this. Half the students prefer to have a tutorial before starting class, whereas around 15% disagree with the idea. There is also a significant difference between those whose preference is for one-on-one and face-to-face learning: around 45% compared to 10% respectively.

Results for whether online support is easy to find and easy to use are very similar. Between 30 and 33% agree with these questions while 10% disagree. Approximately 25% of students prefer to work things out when they are stuck whereas 10% do not like to do this. There was only a 10% difference between those who do or do not prefer online support: 20% of respondents agree while 30% disagree.

Overall, most respondents value contact with a teacher either via a tutorial or a face-to-face session, although there is a clear preference for having online access when they need it.

Analized by IELTS-Samurai

It is OK when you write "overall..." in the last sentence.

It is OK, however, my IELTS teacher told me that you should write "Overall..." in the first paragraph because it is easy for examiners to understand the answers.

We should change the contents of "Overall..." in the model answer!

We should mention the trend of the data, not in a specific data.

It is important to write the introduction clearly!

My IELTS teacher told me that the examiners check the candidates’ answers two times. In the first time, they check candidates’ structures and whether data is included or not. Next, they check spelling and grammatical errors.

Improved model answer.

 Additional information

・When you reraphrase the given question in the first sentence, you should mention how much data was given.

・I changed “Overall…” more simply and mentioned the trend that is shown in the bar chart.

I got rid of “ ; ” and I used “ , ” instead.

That’s all! These answers do not guarantee the band 9.0.

Thank you for reading.
